Climate Change and Future Cities

We are a multidisciplinary group who research the physical, social and economic impacts of climate change. To support climate neutrality for present and future cities, we provide scientific knowledge and, together with our partners and end users, develop weather and climate resilient solutions.

There are many ways to make a city more sustainable, in the image are pictured renewable energy, urban green areas, smart traffic and energy production

The main focus areas of our group

  • We study urban climate and the impacts of built environment to the weather and climate conditions in the city.

  • We analyse weather and climate risks of cities and have knowledge about climate change mitigation and adaptation measures.

  • We assess impacts of built environment and green spaces in urban areas.

  • We conduct economic and social research focusing on urban areas and study different urban development scenarios.

  • We develop, test and pilot digital urban weather and climate services.

  • We organise a seminar series called Climate-Neutral and Resilient Cities.

Stakeholder cooperation

  • Our expert is a member of AMAP SLCF working group which assesses information about the impacts of short-lived climate forcers.
