Meteoalarm.org is a website where you are able to see in one glance where in Europe weather is or might become dangerous. The danger of a weather phenomenon and its impacts to society are described by colour-coded awareness levels. Colour coding is harmonized among the Meteoalarm member countries so that e.g. orange colour indicates same level disruption and potential danger caused by severe weather, both to the society and to you, no matter in which of the 36 Meteoalarm countries you happen to be in.

When more than one warning is in force in the same region, colour of that region indicates awareness level of the most severe weather event in that region. Pictograms show you what types of weather are expected to cause disruption and potential danger. By clicking on a region you will find more detailed information about expected time period and intensity of the event, and in some cases also recommendations for actions.

Weather parameters included in Meteoalarm differ from country to country. Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) delivers severe weather information to Meteoalarm about following parameters:

• Wind

• Rain

• Thunderstorms

• Extreme high temperature (Heat wave)

• Extreme low temperature (Cold weather)

• Snow/ice (Road weather)

• Forest and grass fires
