Weather has significant impact on winter accidents involving slipping on ice
Nearly half of all accidents in Finland involving slipping take place in the mid-winter period - January through March. Snow, ice, and temperatures fluctuating above and below the freezing point significantly increase the risk of slipping.

There are great annual and regional differences in slipping accidents connected primarily with the amount of snow and the temperature. In the study, weather and slipping accident statistics were examined over a period of 14 years.
