Small-scale snow surface roughness affects the snow albedo and reflectance

This affects the energy balance of the Earth and the evaluation of the weather and climate in late spring. Effect is strongest in the end of melting season, when the sun is low and snow is old. The phenomenon will become stronger as the climate change advances.
