Precipitation can be modeled more accurately with high-resolution numerical regional climate models
The study assessed the ability of the HARMONIE-Climate regional climate model to model the precipitation of Southern Sweden. Based on the study, a more accurate resolution (3 km) improved the illustration of short, heavy rainfall and the daily rainfall cycle in the model.
The climate model simulations used in the study were implemented in cooperation with the Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish and Danish Meteorological Institutions within the framework of the Nordic Convection Permitting Climate Projections (NorCP) project.
