The identification of volcanic ash is made more precise using satellite measurements
Infrared range satellite measurements are an important tool in the identification and monitoring of ash clouds generated by volcanic eruptions. New research shows that the porosity of ash particles is one of the key factors affecting the interpretation of infrared range satellite measurements.
