Study investigates causes of strongest disturbances to the Earth’s magnetic field
The disturbances caused by stormy space weather to the Earth’s magnetic field could, at worst, lead to wide-ranging power outages.

The study examined what kinds of events in near-Earth space produce the strongest magnetic field disturbances on the Earth’s surface. The results will contribute to the predictability of such events.
