Despite the rapid technical evolution of the humanity, weather and climate have remained of great importance in our daily lives. It is almost easier to say on which areas of life climate does not matter than on which it does.

Weather and climatic zones determine which areas of the Earth are habitable. Throughout the history the living and lifestyles of people have adapted to the climate of the region. I.e. certain types of plants can only be successful within their own climatic zones, and thus the cultivation of rice, for instance, is not possible in Finland.
