Upwelling needs to be considered when studying central currents in Gulf of Finland

Researchers at the Finnish Meteorological Institute have studied the capability of computational sea models to simulate currents in the Gulf of Finland. The ability of sea models to depict currents is important for evaluating the spread of nutrients in Finnish sea areas or the drift of oil, for example.
