A new method produces more accurate wind and turbulence observations using Doppler lidar measuring devices

Wind speed change from the ground to the height of a few hundred metres is key information for wind power production and aviation. Another essential factor in the troposphere is turbulence, which affects, in particular, air quality.

Researchers from the Finnish Meteorological Institute developed a method that enables more precise wind and turbulence observations using Doppler lidar measuring devices based on remote sensing technology.
